As a leader in Information Technology, Andy Pai knows how to leverage more than three decades of experience to plan and implement world class IT infrastructure. He understands how to meet challenging technical advances and drive a team toward meeting business goals. Through his visionary leadership and breakthrough thinking, Pai can mobilize teams to execute at high performance levels and achieve or exceed goals. 

His IT experience includes start-up, turn around, and the alignment of large infrastructure teams toward aggressive business goals. He has a significant track record of partnering with all levels of business management and clients at global corporations. Throughout his career, he has specialized in data center management; server and storage architecture; virtualization and consolidation; performance optimization and “Green” initiatives. 

As Director of Information Technology at Qwest Communications, Pai is currently responsible for architecture, engineering and technical governance over multi-year, multi-million-dollar outsourced operations. 

Prior to Qwest, Pai worked as Vice President of Technology Leadership Initiatives at First Data Corporation where he was responsible for vendor selection, development of the business case, data collection and strategic planning to elevate all disciplines within the IT infrastructure into an agile, resilient and scalable world-class operation with significantly lower operating cost.  Prior to that, he served as First Data’s Vice President of Distributed Systems, led a staff of nearly 300, and was accountable for a $90 million annual budget, 5,000 servers, 800 TB of storage and 30,000 desktops. 

In addition, he worked in executive-level IT roles at IBM Global Services, Woodward Clyde Inc., Cyprus Amax Minerals Company and Burlington Northern Railroad. His experience includes design, development and implementation of critical revenue generating applications as well as infrastructure operations in diverse industries representing outsourcing, engineering services, mining and transportation sectors. He’s proficient at hiring, training, mentoring and motivating highly skilled technical staff, including off-shore resources. He knows how to maintain momentum while managing large budgets and reducing costs. 

Pai has implemented Operations processes and practices based on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)/ IT Service management (ITSM) framework. He has developed and implemented processes for Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, SAS70, and FFIEC compliance. 

He graduated from the University of Madras in India with a bachelor’s of science in Mechanical Engineering and obtained his master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Kansas State University.
